Tour Queensland (Australia) by Bus & Rail - Including Queensland Rail Museum & Mary Valley Rattler
In this video we tour Queensland by rail and bus starting in Brisbane having arrived there on Emirates flights from Gatwick airport in the UK via Dubai. Our plane landed after the last airport train had departed leaving a taxi ride into Brisbane as the only option. I used Google Earth to locate a suitable hotel near Roma Street station. I chose the "Pacific hotel" located a short walk though attractive gardens from the station and a pleasant cafe overlooking both the gardens and Roma Street station.
On my first full day I caught up with family for a walk along the banks of the Brisbane River. I'd built in an extra day to recover from the flight so I decided to use the extra time to visit Q...

Timsvideochannel1 Christmas Video
I have train videos playing to prevent my work computer locking up and every now and then I have a look at what is playing. SHEEP!
What a great looking area!
Stunning, informative and typical of your thorough, professional & careful previous works. Tim, Thanks for the chance to glimpse the journey.
This is a really ugly section of rail scenery.
Love this adventure!
How cool the airplane from @1:12:47
Is this train still running in 2024 ?
Good video
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Thanks Tim for a another great vid, When are we going to south Africa? cheers Bob.🍍🍌🥭PS We jokingly refer to Brisbane as the biggest country town in Australia.🍺🤣😁
I have family in Brisbane and I have no doubt that their life in Brisbane is way better than it would have been, had they stayed in the UK. They live at the back of town where it gives way to the forests, plenty of wild life and country walks, it's the kind of place I'd choose to live if I moved to Australia. I can understand why it might be referred to as "the biggest country town in Australia", although it’s a relatively large city, you are never far from the countryside. I'm off to South Africa in the middle of July, it's a place I know little about, I hope I can capture some great shots of large steam engines doing what they were designed to do 😊🍺🤠.
The goat tunnel, greatest of all tunnels 😊
31:17 Just before the tunnel is the bridge to nowhere and to one side is the Royal Goat Hotel. The goat is long dead, but its memory lives on. 🤔.
What are those large stone balls? And how did the conductor know there were rocks on the tracks? That could have been deadly. I got so may questions! Why are there no homes or tents or any human abode?
The outback leaves people with plenty of unanswered questions, some of those round rocks are round rocks, but most are termite mounds, the driver was paying close attention to the tracks ahead for obstacles on the line, thankfully he saw the rocks in time to be able to stop the train. There is little or no human inhabitation because other than raising beef cattle there is no reason to be in the outback. 6:37 Oh dear! These locos and carriages(not to mention the tracks) have spent *way too long in the wash!* Look how much they've shrunk! LOL

Wonderful variety of places and modes, Tim. Wish it were a bit longer! Much appreciated all the same.👍
Hello, I'm pleased you like the video, Queensland is a fascinating place, with vast fertile coastal plains, wet lands, sugar plantations, cotton fields and inland there are rain forests, huge open cast coal mines, mountains and the outback. Just off the coast is the Great Barrier Reef, I'd love to spend more there; there is so much to see and do.

Cheers, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride, the rain was a challenge, it's also the reason this part of Wales is so beautiful.
thanks you for memory that this trip bought back for me . i was a porter on the old Endeavour line , Palmy to Napier
It's nice to know this video bought back memories of your days as a porter on the Endeavour, as a regular tourist to New Zealand I'd love to see the Endeavour re-introduced along with trains to Rotorua and Dunedin, it would make touring a lot easier.
I've heard of narrow gauge, but damn, that is NARROW gauge! two feet I'd guess?
I think the camera and its position on the locomotive exagerate the situation a little, although at a fraction under 2 feet, it is narrow.
It's a shame that you didn't film the oldest operational electric locomotive in the world, built in 1903. Originally it was one of the three locomotives built for the construction of the Tauern Tunnel, later they came here and were given a different locomotive body that makes it look like a garden shed.
It would have been nice see the locomotives you mention in action, although there is a railway just a few miles from my home that has been operating electric trains since 1883, the Volk’s Railway runs along Brighton seafront in the UK.
@@Timsvideochannel1 I know... The association that now operates the Höllentalbahn as a museum railway currently prefers to use the railcar that has been rebuilt from original parts and a passenger car... Of course, there are also older electrically operated routes, but you will hardly find the original vehicles from back then.
@@thomasnovacek4686 I enjoyed visiting the Höllentalbahn and I look forward to visiting again. Austria is home to some wonderful heritage railways.
I enjoyed very much the video. The only thing I expected up there were some llamas, that could have been shipped all over from Bolivia. lol, You learn on a daily basis.
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, sorry about the lack of llamas, on the plus side there were plenty of prairie dogs.
It looks like Washington State.
A good reason to visit Washington State.
Gorgeous 😮
I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride 😊.
1:07:22
The train running through spring loaded switches set for the other track. This is normal practice on this and many other narrow gauge railways.
Amazing if it was double tracked, to see an preserved express passenger or heritage goods train pass. Since infrastructure like bridges and tunnels already exist. 👍
In British Rail days the line was double track. There just isn't enough money to be able to restore the second line.
very beautiful landscape and weather.
I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride 😊.
How much cow farts need to be banned to offset the carbon footprint of these engines? Don't you know there is a climate emergency?
Anyone else notice the creator’s unique style?
Why is there all the gaps - the bits taken out of the clip? Great idea about the reverse imagery. OH! Just answered my own question... Everything that moves would be going BACKWARDS. LOL
Hi, Queensland Rail wouldn't allow me to place a camera on the locomotive, so I did the next best thing and placed one at the rear of the train and reversed the footage. The missing bits are the give aways i.e. people walking backwards and car reversing at high speed along the nearby roads.
I understand
Very relaxing atmosphere and nicely filmed again !!! LOL🥸
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it 😊
Lyn has a very different chuffing sound to the other narrow gauge engines I heard. I understand the original engine which was scrapped in the 1930s sounded very similar. the replica was built in the 2010s
The replica engine sounds good, I hope I live long enough to see the railway extended to Wistlandpound Reservoir.
We need to convert victoria rd in sydney to look like this.
If you are going to make a travel video pick a nice day to do it, rain drops on the lense spoils it

Thanks Tim for taking us on another wonderful journey Southern Italy is really a beautiful place, I love there trains i wish we had them in Sydney are you coming down for our summer? cheers Bob.🌏🏖✈☀🌡🍺🍺🍺
Hello Bob, Italy is a wonderful country with a diverse and surprising landscape. Being a long thin country it is well suited to high-speed rail. I have booked one of my next three trips and I'll book the other two if I survive next month’s trip to South Africa on a tour that is likely to push me to the limits of both my stamina and filming abilities. I intend to visit New Zealand and Australia again next year, the date will depend on whether or not the railways I intend to visit have completed all the necessary maintenance work required to allow trains to run over their full lengths. Take care 🍺🍻 Tim.
